Custom Designed Recycling Facility in Sydney, NSW
Downer EDI contacted us to design this 27 x 60m building to house a new waste recycling facility in Sydney. The building houses an advanced processing facility which separates and recycles street sweeper waste into usable products. The unique processing equipment required a custom design to suit the client’s needs.
The Brief
Downer EDI approached us to assist in the design and construction of a custom, purpose-built recycling facility in Rosehill, NSW.
This facility had to be able to accommodate specialist machinery and equipment and allow for large trucks to easily tip the raw materials in the facility.
The facility is able to cost-effectively process, separate and clean of upwards of 25,000 tonnes of waster a year, collected from street sweepings and stormwater pits, and turn the majority, approximately 85%, into useable materials.

Our Innovative Solution
By working closely with the client we were able to develop a custom design that would suit their needs and comfortably fit their equipment.
Our design included a custom stepped roofline to allow for different equipment heights, and 10 m high roller-shutters at the higher end of the building to allow for the height of tipping semitrailers.
The design also included mechanical louvres and powered ventilation systems to ensure the exhaust fumes from the equipment are effectively dispersed.
The building also features two-tone coloured cladding.
